A device that’s labeled water-resistant will not get damaged from being immersed or dipped in shallow water for a brief time period. But a waterproof device is impermeable to water, and it will not get damaged no matter how long it remains submerged.
It’s easy to think that the water-resistance evaluation describes the depth of water the watch can be used in. This isn’t true. Water resistance rating numbers really refer to the static pressure (measured in thickness of meters) your device can manage. But this only means that it may repel light splashes of water.
